Bolton Market Hall is a superb Victorian building very much in the style and wake of the 1851 Crystal Palace which housed the Great Exhibition. The Market Hall was built just three years after the Great Exhibition in 1854, and opened on the 19th Dec 1855, with a Mr GT Robinson as architect. The photo was taken c1900 before 'modernisation'. It was a statement of Victorian confidence and wealth in the manufacturing town of Bolton.
