Bolton, Bradshawgate 1881

A glimpse into the world of the Victorians. Notice the advertisements on the right especially the one for Reckitt's Blue or 'Dolly Blue' as it was colloquially known, a powder added to the weekly clothes wash which worked as a whitening agent. On the extreme left of the photo is a lean-to with a cart inside. Henry Baron was a monumental mason at 116 Bradshawgate and in the street index it shows 120,116 Bradshawgate as Henry Baron, Mason, Marble works.
