'The Cartmel Peninsula Local History Society (Cumbria) was founded in 1996 with the objective of promoting an interest in local history within Cartmel and the surrounding parishes, roughly the area between the Leven Estuary to the west and the Kent Estuary to the east.' For further information about the Society and membership visit http://www.cartmel-peninsula-lhs.org.uk/

The Victorian images presented here are taken from a private collection, a photograph album presented to James Rostron Riley & Mrs Riley from friends & congregation at St Paul's Church, Grange-over-Sands 1898 - where he was highly regarded as a churchwarden.
