HRS 2997 Radcliffe Quarry, Crushing-mill stone March 1968
The stone is not a grinding stone from a cornmill but would have been used to grind either logwood (qv) for dyestuffs (there was dyeworks nearby in 1850) or to grind the relatively soft sandstone down into gravel or sands for building.
