Bureau writing desk with drawers

"Bureaux. It is drawing number 343A (found amongst the photos at Abbot Hall, Kendal). This is a lovely simple piece which really shows up the timber well. Looks to be Walnut with Bog Oak handles. There are runs of leaf carving down the outside edges of the front and of the interier. There is a lovely compound chamfer on the apron rail, rounded dovetails on the top edges of the carcase, wedged through carcase tenons and tusk tenons on the sledge feet. The fall front is supported by SWD's own timber mechanism which he used from very early designs to the very end of his career."
