Salford Local History Library houses an extensive collection of images and information about the City. Historically a very important place at the heart of the industrial revolution. It is now a dramatically changing city. It once had docks on the Manchester Ship Canal, the Duke of Bridgewater's in the the 18th C had coal mines and an underground canal system at Worsley and pioneering forward thinking public library and art gallery for its residents. It was the home for some years of the artist LS Lowry. For further information contact:
