Car on Hardknott Pass 1925

Hardknott pass links the valleys of Eskdale with Duddon and provides a route, albeit narrow and tortuous through the Cumbrian Mountains from east to west/west to east. The photo shows the steep hair-pin bend pass before it was surfaced with tarmac.
It became a challenge before the second world war for motor bike enthusiasts and car owners to attempt to climb the pass.
