HRS 3747 Barton Aqueduct over the Irwell

James Brindley's canal aqueduct was a wonder of the age. However it had to make way for progress and was demolished when the Manchester Ship Canal was constructed in the 19th century. In its place was substituted a swinging aqueduct.
The view is taken looking roughly east towards Salford. The boat crossing the Irwell is interesting as it seems to be a a forerunner of the Mersey Flat boats.
