Melynllyn is at the head of the remote valley of Clogwyn Maldy, characterised by the bleak Cwm Dulyn. Search the site box for hone for more photos and information about hone-stone quarrying.
Hone-stones are largely fine-grained tuffs, volcanic ashes from the Ordovician period that have been quarried as whetstones for sharpening razors, scythes and edged-blades. In 2003 when the photos were taken a great deal of the mill had survived.
