Train4-1953.jpg – Interior view of Electric train carriage on journey between Radcliffe central and Bury, 1953.
These candid shots were taken in the last years of the old Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway 3rd rail DC electric trains that ran between Manchester and Bury. Notice the naked bulbs, and hanging straps. The man on the right is a steam engine driver or fireman presumably going to his work at Bury Loco Shed where steam was still in operation in 1953 for goods traffic. KH
