HRS 1540 Abbeystead, Jubilee Tower

Jubilee Tower looks towards the west and Lancaster, the Lancashire coast, the Irish Sea, Morecambe Bay and the Lake District. Looking east the bleak moorlands of the Trough of Bowland can be seen. It was built for Queen Victoria's Jubilee by James Harrison of Hare Appletree near Quernmore in 1887 and is over 900 feet above sea level.
