Manchester, Ancoats, Blossom Street, St Peter's Church
One of Ancoats signature buildings, this formerly derelict Anglican Church of St Peter's, Blossom Street, seen here in 1977, has been saved for future use by English Heritage, the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Northwest Development Agency. Over £3m has been spent to date on restoring the shell of this fantastic Italianate building and it is now at a stage where it can be readily converted for active use. The church was built in 1859-60 in the "Romanesque" style using red and yellow bricks.
