Manchester, Clayton, Holy Cross

Holy Cross Clayton, on Ashton New Road, Manchester, was designed by the eminent church architect William Butterfield in the 1860s. St Cross is an impressive grade 2 listed building, often referred to locally as the "streaky-bacon" church, on account of its striped brickwork! It still remains today at the heart of the Clayton community.
