HRS 147 MBBC Breach local photo of breach 1936

This rather poor quality image is important for it shows the extent of the actual breach. It is taken looking north west towards Nob End locks and the houses once part of a small thriving canal community. Geologically there is an exposure of the Nob End sandstone or Nob End Rock on the upper right of the picture, it is angled in such a manner that water got between the overburden and the sandstone causing it to slip and give way.
