Caldbeck is a small village to the north of the Lake District, not far from Wigton, the nearest town. It is a beautiful village with lots of interesting remains including a water-powered cotton mill, wool warehouse, church, and a bobbin mill. There is a village pond, and another watermill with waterwheel at eastern end of the village. Prince Charles has visited the village on a number of occasions and the climber Sir Chris Bonington lives in the area. It is also famous for its association with John Peel, the huntsman.
