HRS 9883 Great Asby gill, dry river bed potholes L1180779

Asby Gill is a classic stream course with (even in wet weather) water disappearing into the limestone and resurging again downstream. The photo shows a classic pothole (centre) formed by water action revolving stone debris when water levels were great during the meltwater stage of the last Ice Age event.
