Manchester Cathedral is sited next to Victoria Street, with Hanging Bridge adjacent to the building.

Victoria Street Arches. In 1973 Ken Howarth along with Christopher Walmsley of BBC Radio Manchester in co-operation with Manchester City Council recorded a series of educational programme on Manchester Underground. The Victoria arches is a viaduct carrying the main road between the river Irwell and Manchester Cathedral. During the Second World War it was used as an air-raid shelter, it was also foundry and landing platform for boats.
