An important 19th century copper mine in the Pennant Valley, over the hills from Beddgelert. The waterwheel and ancillary mechanism has been restored by the Welsh Development agency and the National Park. Access is extremely difficult. This 19th century, restored waterwheel in a remote Welsh Valley once served a local copper mine. The wooden beams and rods testify to the fact that it was used as a 'pumping engine'for many years. A full account of this extraordinary mine and its waterwheel is to be found in"The Old Copper Mines of Snowdonia" by David Bick, Landmark Pub 2003.
