The geology of north Anglesey is complicated. The photo shows the rocks around the Porth Wen brickworks site. BGS: Gwna Group - Schist. Metamorphic Bedrock formed approximately 508 to 635 million years ago in the Cambrian and Ediacaran Periods. Originally sedimentary rocks formed in deep seas by chaotic deposition from underwater gravity slide. Later altered by low-grade metamorphism.
