'The Aluminium Corporation Ltd chose Dolgarrog for their new factory in 1907 because of the plentiful supply of water from nearby Snowdonia. It had a hydro electric power station which also provided power for public supply. One hundred houses were built between 1924-1926 for workers many of those houses still survive. The community and the works were blighted by the tragedy of the 1925 Dolgarrog dam disaster which flooded part of the works and took the lives of 16 people.' KH Diolch yn fawr/Thanks to Richard Owen, a former worker at the plant for his excellent comments on the photos. KH
