Blackpool Tower red-lined 26th May 1942

The red ink reads 'paint out main structure'. In 1942 various wireless and early aircraft detection equipment was being deployed on the tower and at other places around the Irish sea coast. It is this early 'radar-type' equipment that was red-inked.
