Edward Pye, Victorian Photographer

An promotional photo postcard of Edward Pye down by the River Ribble in Clitheroe. He was founder of the Pye family photographic business. It is thought the photograph was taken around 1900.
An interesting feature of the promotional postcard is the use of a motif with a water-colour palette associating his new business with 19th century art values suggesting continuity of quality and allegiance to tried and tested ways.
