Blackwell is a remarkable Arts and Crafts house, with a unique interior. "The architect was Mackay Hugh Baillie Scott (1865 - 1945) The client was Sir Edward Holt, former Lord Mayor of Manchester, and a prominent brewer". (Lakeland Arts)
Holt's Ales were extremely well-known all over the north west of England. The house was built as a 'weekend retreat in 1901.
