Humphrey Head is a Carboniferous limestone headland near Allithwaite that juts out into Morecambe Bay. It is famous for its Holy Well, a spring on the west side of the peninsula. The photo shows a building where 'pilgrims' once stayed, and later became a place to buy the 'medicinal' water. Notice the car on the left of the photo.
The building no longer exists although the spring can still be seen.
