HRS 989 Dwygyfylchi from Pen Sychnant look due west
The photo shows the Sychnant Pass, a valley devoid of water. Sych nant means 'dry stream'. It is not only a beautiful area of North Wales, but an area with important geology, and glaciology. The dry valley was probably formed by meltwater beneath a glacier during the Ice Age. There is evidence of a former waterfall, now without water, and towards the end of the Ice Age it may well have been occupied by a small glacier entering the valley somewhere the car park at the top of the Pass.
