Holker, Quarry Flat wall Sigillaria in red sandstone
John Bolton in his book Geological Fragments of Furness and Cartmel 1869 refers specifically on page 171 to an abundance of 'coal plant' fossils. Excavation of the drainage ditch next to the railway line has revealed numerous but well preserved coal measure fossils.
