Darwen, India Mill Chimney

India Mill Chimney was completed in 1867, to provide considerable draught for the boilers. It is in the style of an Italian bell-tower or campanile. Originally it was 304 feet high, but reduced during renovation work in 2007. The brick-built chimney is an important local landmark and reminder of the one-time wealth of Lancashire cotton mill owners.
