HRS 9790 Seathwaite, Volcanic ash banded rocks DSC_0041

The banded rocks show the settlement layers of the Duddon Hall Ordovician tuff. A tuff is a volcanic rock (ash) ejected from a volcano which forms deposits, eventually consolidating into solid rock. The rock is Ordovician in age and was deposoited approximately 449-458 million years ago. NGR SD22639627
