HRS 7259 Isle of Staffa, columnar basalt

The Isle of Staffa is a classic geological site, part of the Tertiary volcanics of Scotland part of the Mull volcanic Group. . The lower section with its famous sea-caves - such as Fingals cave) consists of columnar basalt, an upper more rubble-like lava forming the upper section. It is also an example of differential cooling of ejected lava materials.
