HRS 9931 Radcliffe, Church St, Riverside buidings 1968
View taken looking NW across the river Irwell towards Church Street. Many of the later buildings appear to have been built on quarried ground, possibly part of the extensive Radcliffe Quarry. The structures have supporting cast iron beams and there is the remains (right side of photo) of a tunnel entrance/exit? Could the underlying sandstone wall be a quay for very local traffic?
