Wycoller is a tiny hamlet near Colne and Trawden in Lancashire. There are remains of the old Hall and stone bridges. The area has superb examples of medieval stone vaccary walls and other dry stone walling. 'The vaccaries in the Blackburn Hundred were set up by the de Lacys in the 13th century and possibly a little earlier. It is recorded that there were four vaccaries in the Forest of Trawden in 1277. The examples situated on the east side of the valley and I think is of later date, possibly erected by `Baron` Cunliffe in the late 18th century.' My personal thanks to Dr David Taylor for supplying the information and showing me around. (KH)
