HRS 2266 Cark-in-cartmel, Peter Hill drumlin looking east

Peter Hill is a distinctive mound near Cark-in-Cartmel and Flookburgh. It was generally believed to be a 'burial site' or tumulus, but it is a drumlin or kame formed under or associated with the ice sheet some 18,000 years ago, and may be part of a 'swarm' of drumlins in the area.

The flowing undulating land on the left of the image leads to the drumlin suggests a relationship with the local topography. The view is taken looking east.
