The shows the Sychnant Pass, a valley devoid of water. Sych nant means 'dry stream'. It is not only a beautiful area of North Wales, but an area with important geology, and glaciology. The dry valley was probably formed by meltwater beneath a glacier during the Ice Age. There is evidence of a former waterfall, now without water, and towards the end of the Ice Age it may well have been occupied by a small glacier entering the valley somewhere the car park at the top of the Pass.
PHOTO: Shows the area above the former waterfall looking SE. The fields are largely gravel and sand, they are however on a downward gradient suggesting that the glacial meltwater was forced upward under hydro static pressure sub-glacially.
