HRS 3364 Bury Duggie Hall and KH with Whitworth planing machine Halsalls Bury 1970s

Halsall's brickworks had a small engineering workshop that contained an early belt-driven lathe manufactured by Joseph Whitworth the pioneer machine tool manufacturer from Manchester. The lathe probably dates to about c1850 and was removed to Bury Museum for preservation.
