Radcliffe, Monkey Bridge weir-side 1954

Historical street view Manchester area 1940s, 1950s showing Ordnance Survey revision point marking. Photo shows the East Lancashire Railway Bridge 1846 known locally as the Monkey Bridge because of the iron criss-cross pieces carrying the footpath. (cage?) The weir in the River Irwell is Hutchinson's weir that once supplied water to Hutchinson's textile print works.
