HRS 1825 Radcliffe Rant market 1937

The original market hall at Radcliffe known as the rant from the calls made by sellers. Notice the road setts, tramlines and arcade shops. A motor lorry makes its way towards Blackburn Street. Interestingly are the number of men appearing to simply stand about doing nothing. This was the time of the Depression and unemployment was commonplace.
