HRS 1067 Slate-clad farmhouse Cwm Penmachno 2003

Cwm Penmachno like many villages in Wales has a high rainfall. One very effective way of preventing rain from percolating through the slate walls was to cover the outside of the building with more slates. This technique is not just confined to North Wales there are many houses in the industrial north west and elsewhere where this additonal slate cladding was used.
