Portland Street (the east side of Piccadilly Gardens). Piccadilly is still a major transport hub in the centre of Manchester.
The two trolleybuses seen here - one from Manchester and one from Ashton - were being used for a private tour of the complete Manchester and Ashton system resulting in both vehicles visiting parts that they would not normally have reached. The final closure of the trolleybus system was only six months ahead." Text AMR
