Locomotive 48132 at Speke Junction shed 1967

"Locomotive 48132 at Speke Junction shed. NGR SJ4184

A late afternoon in November 1967. The north-west of England was the last stronghold of steam operation on the railways. Speke Junction shed was quite a large shed and primarily serviced the freight traffic from the south Liverpool docks, Garston and Widnes. The LMS 8F class would have been the mainstays of the allocation; by 1967 it would have been unusual to see anything cleaner than this!" AMS text.
Notice the elephant trunk water towers to supply water to the loco. KH
