Situated to the west of the highland area known as the Mignient, Cwm Cynfal, was formed at least partly under the Ice Sheet that once covered the whole of the area. A little further upstream is a waterfall, the valley floor is littered with glacial material carried down from the higher land. A local glacier probably filled this valley towards the end of the Ice Age, and there was certainly a huge amount of meltwater as the ice retreated which helped to form the valley. The building on the left of the image is a barn.
