HRS 7135 Radcliffe, Pollution suds on Irwell Mount Sion 1970
In the 1970s it was not uncommon to see foam on the River Irwell. The river was heavily polluted. The wind would lift the foam from the river on to the footpath of Radcliffe Bridge and on to the road, pedestrians and cars maneuvering their way through. KH
