The image shows a paper-making machine in operation. The pink area is dyed pulp being conveyed at speed on a woollen 'felt'. It then travels from right to left under the 'dandy roller that can also be used to 'place' a watermark. As the pulp moved along it is dried using heated rollers or tins.
