Original notes Ken Howarth 1971. ICI Withins wallpaper printing works, Radcliffe 1971. "In old textile mill, printing machines in former weaving shed, Lancashire boiler for steam raising, old stables, raw materials include china clay to coat paper, also titanium for coating. 1st stage base stained to a shade, two papers then laminated & printed. Machines by Bradbury and Saunders, Radcliffe - similar to roller textile printing. Up to 12 colours could be printed on one machine. Then taken to festoon which can house 50 yards of paper moving along from wet to dry end, steam pipes underneath."
