Coniston, The Till Family Rock Band

"The Till Family Rock Band played a lithophone, a set of musical stones made from hornfels, found near Skiddaw. Ruskin, the great Victorian polymath, was a keen amateur geologist, and was so intrigued by the musicality of The Till Rock Band that he commissioned them to make an instrument for him. This is now in The Ruskin Museum, Coniston."
