Coniston, Railway Station

"The Coniston Station Master and his staff attending a Furness Railway steam train. The Furness Railway Company built the Coniston branch-line as a freight line, to carry slate and copper ore, but it rapidly developed in a passenger line, taking villagers further afield for work, and bringing tourists into the heart of the Lake District."
