HRS 292 MBBC, Bury wharf coal boxes c1971

Wooden boxes or containers used to carry coal along the Manchester, Bolton and Bury Canal. The Ladyshore Colliery Company pioneered this approach which involved the use of a crane to load the containers and a sectioned hatch in the base was opened to release the load wherever it was needed.
