HRS 3932 Irwell, Salford side entrance to rubbish wharfage 1980s

The river entrance to Salford Muncipal Refuse Yard. The cast-iron beam reads "Salford Corporation Councillor Wright Chairman - 1864 - James Evans Engineer" Manchester and Salford were early pioneers in the use of refuse incinerators one of which was based alongside the river.
