HRS 565 MBBC, footpath obstruction Little Lever 1971
The paper mill near Nob End Little Lever constructed a warehouse across the canal and erected barriers to prevent people using the towpath. The Peak and Northern Footpath Preservation Society took the papermill to court and won. The obstruction was an interesting one considering there had already been the Great Trespass Case at Elton involving the Elton Reservoir for the canal establishing Rights of Way legislation in 1907.
