Brookbottom Mill "A sketch plan dated 1873 (built 1876) shows that there was a water-wheel house, engine house, and a gas-house and gasometer. There was a large warehouse, offices and of course a weaving shed. There was even an extension over the river planned. The main stone building now flats, accommodated ring spinning, doubling, and cotton carding processes". From KH The River Irwell
Isaac Hoyle also built terraced cottages for his workers "61 cottages, 18 petties (outside toilets), three ash pits and a gas works".
