HRS 3212 Radcliffe Station with electric train c1950s
A rare photo of the old Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Manchester to Bury electric train stock in sidings near Bury. The Manchester to Bury Electric service used a 1200 V DC 3rd rail side contact system. (visible in photo) As a small child I can recall that the trains had strange characteristic whining sound as they accelerated. KH
